Mentoring
One of the biggest challenges maritime startups face is having access to vessels to test and showcase new technologies. Modern ships are huge, expensive investments that take a long time to build, prohibiting rapid iteration and risky experimentation. Selected startups from the Eastern Pacific Accelerator powered by Techstars will have a unique opportunity to bypass these challenges. With over 17 million deadweight tonnes under management, EPS is one of the largest independent tonnage providers in the world. Startups with a proven track record or an exciting proof of concept will have access to EPS' diversified fleet of containerships, dry bulk and tanker vessels.
We put our money where our mouth is. If we select you for our programme it’s because we believe in your success. That’s why we not only provide the tools and resources needed to succeed but we also invest in your company. This means we are truly invested and motivated to scale or get your product to market. These standard equity deals leave you fully in control of your company and decision making but make us true partners on your journey towards commercialisation. The EPS Accelerator powered by Techstars is a mentorship-based programme. Once a startup is accepted into the programme they are instantly plugged in to a network of thousands of mentors. These include both in-house and external maritime experts as well as people with a track record of commercialising and scaling startups. This formula helps accelerate startups businesses success by helping them to develop at a faster pace and if necessary, to iterate and pivot. They can immediately throw things away that don’t work. No one is trying to protect a brand that may not exist yet, and nobody has reason to be afraid of small failures. Our mentors help our startups appreciate this as part of the process.

Gil Ofer
Special Advisor for Innovation Eastern Pacific Shipping
As Special Advisor, Gil provides guidance in business development matters as well as on partnerships that accelerate, incubate, and activate internal and external innovation platforms. Before joining the shipping arm of his family business, Gil was the co-Founder and VP strategic Partnerships of IMGN Media, a company at the intersection of technology and digital media that is one of the largest publishers of video on Instagram and builds content brands for multicultural audiences. Gil holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University and currently resides in London.
Dhritiman Hui
Managing Director Eastern Pacific Accelerator powered by Techstars
As Managing Director of the EPS Accelerator Powered by Techstars, Dhritiman is in charge of the entire life cycle of the programme. This includes sourcing and vetting hundreds of applications, managing the selection committee, bringing the startups to Singapore and them the day-to-day operation leading to Demo Day.Prior to joining Techstars, Dhritiman spent close to a decade investing in companies at different stages in both the east and the west, of which he spent a substantial amount of time investing in and working with maritime technology companies.
